Lao, Thai electricity firms agree on new power rates
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – Électricité du Laos (EDL) and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) have agreed on new electricity tariff rates which will commence between the two state agencies at the beginning of next month.
According to the new power purchasing agreement (PPA), which the two firms will implement from April 1, EGAT will purchase electricity from EDL at a rate of 1.8 baht per kilowatt-hour (unit) during peak hours and 1.53 baht per unit during off-peak hours, according to the online version of Bangkok Post this week.
